A clever and insightful take on the Faustian bargain. Schwab's writing is stunningly gorgeous-her turn of phrase, her specific choices really give the reader, not only a sense of place and time, but actually touch the senses. There is real feeling in this striking novel. I was quite astounded by it's beauty, as well as it's darkness. An amazing read!
