The Murder List By: Hank Phillippi Ryan

I wish I could rate this with 10 stars!  This is by far Ryan's best novel!  With her typically breezy writing style, she sets off a hurricane of psychological action that will raise your blood pressure and drop your jaw.  Rachel, Jack and Martha are all convinced that they know what justice is and how to achieve it; Hank Phillippi Ryan knows how to entice her readers into following each character, and believing each of them as well, and then she twists the ending and drops the bomb that will blow your mind.  Make sure you have a friend who is also reading this so you can discuss it immediately, without spoiling the ending for anyone else.  A stunning achievement in the thriller genre!!

Murder on the Serpentine By: Anne Perry

OMG!!!!  The ending of this book is not something I ever thought of, but once it was committed to paper, I realized it was something I needed...and made me weepy!  Anne Perry's ability to sustain this series over decades and let us into Charlotte and Thomas's lives is astonishing.

Treachery at Lancaster Gate By: Anne Perry

This one literally starts with a bang, and all of the characters we've come to know and love in the Pitt series, must work together to put the pieces back together. With her signature attention to detail, Perry works through the emotions and the evidence in this uncomfortable and urgent novel.

Logical Family: A Memoir By: Armistead Maupin

Written in Maupin's inimitable style, this memoir will shock, amuse and move you.  I adore Maupin's writing and this is a warts and all look as his life (which I was shocked to read has been 75 years long!).  From his deeply southern, republican start to his awakening as a gay man, his famous lovers and the genesis of his brilliant Tales Of the City novels.  A wonderful read and a must for any fan of Maupin.

An Echo of Murder By: Anne Perry

With Echo of Murder we delve further into Hester's past in the Crimea and her family.  This gripping mystery has echoes of things in the past of the world of the series and in our current real world-and is no less frightening.  The edge of your seat story will have you gasping until the very end, which will shock you!

Behind the Blue and Gray: The Soldiers Life in the Civil War By: Delia Ray

I'm constantly amazed by authors who really convey personal feelings, and a sense of place and time, with so few words: this look at the life of soldiers (both sides) in the Civil War from the call to arms to returning home, is concisely written and very moving.
