Rogue By: Mike Winter

A great thriller in short form-not an easy task, but Mr. Winter manages to pack a lot of action, intrigue and suspense-with a great twist-into a novella.  Hazzah!

Targeting the Telomeres By: R. N. Shapiro

Well I must have really liked the book, because I'm pissed as hell at how it ended!  That's the sign of a good thriller!  Absolutely fascinating take on a thriller and extremely well written.

The Little Old Lady Who Broke All the Rules By: Catharina Ingelman-Sundberg

An absolutely delightful crime caper involving septa- and octogenarians.  Fed up with the shoddy treatment at their retirement home, Martha and her friends (The League of Pensioners) set out to get arrested, because the prison system offers better care than the retirement home system.  If that isn't enough to  intrigue you, add in a botched bank robbery, the Grand Hotel, an amazing museum heist and whole host of Mack Sennet like situations-that should be more than enough to make you pick up this charmer of a book!

The Sins of Jack Saul By: Glenn Chandler

A fascinating look at the life of John Saul and his entanglement in an infamous sex scandal of the late Victorian Age.  Well researched and written.

Paranormal Nonsense By: Steve Higgs

Don't let the name or the cover fool you; this is a hard boiled PI novel disguised as a cozy-ish mystery.  Tempest Danger Michaels, is a smart, roguish, gentlemanly PI.  Because of a typo at the local newspaper he's a Paranormal Investigator instead of a Private Investigator-he decided to go with it and thus begins this smartly written and plotted detective story set in the England.  Really, enjoyed this-I love creatively and smartly written work!

View to a Chill By: Larissa Reinhart

Not having read either of the Maizie Albright or the Cherry Tucker series I found this one a bit difficult to get into.  By the end, I enjoyed it, but I think I would have had an easier time had I read either of the original series.

Witching for a Miracle By: Tegan Maher

A short novella from the viewpoint of a supporting character in the Witches of Keyhole Lake: super charming, wonderful characters and totally makes me want to read the series!

The Sweet Scent of Murder By: Susan P. Baker

Mavis is a hoot and a holler!  This is a well written and gripping mystery.  If you like your mysteries served up with a dash of sass and Schnapps then this is a great one for you!  Enjoy!

The Rage, The Wire and the Big Store: A Leroy and Kate Love Story Part 1 By: Duane Lindsay

As a fan of film noir, I adored these 6 novellas falling Kate and Leroy, a glorious pair of grifters.  I love short stories and there is a great art to packing a short with enough background and action to move it along at a believable pace, and Duane Lindsay has mastered that art.  This volume has the first 6 stories in this wonderful series.  Hold on to your wallet and join the fray!

Sweet Masterpiece By: Connie Shelton

I loved this one!  It's wonderful to see a heroine of maturity working her magic (literally and figuratively-read the book you'll understand)!  This book is very smart, from it's character development, plot and writing.  Definitely a series to collect!

Stilettos & Scoundrels By: Laina Turner

Presley is an intriguing protagonist in this mystery, but her mother is someone this reader can do without.  Some slight continuity issues, but other than that, a good mystery.

South of Reason By: Kendi Thompson

A gothic southern mystery, and oddly a touching love story all at the same time! Really excellent read!

Sifting for Suspects By: Cindy Bell

A sweet and charming (if a cozy can be charming) start to a delightfully delicious new series! Lucy, her sister Chantelle, and their mother Jacqueline run a Macaron shop, and Lucy solves mysteries with the help of her "intuition".

Savannah Sleuth By: Alan Chaput

I received a free copy of this book as part of a cozy mystery give-away. I was expecting a cozy-especially with the cover looking as it does-this is not a cozy. This is a damn good thriller. Written with a languid feel, much like the southern locale, the reader is taken through the founding families of Savannah and the mystery of who is targeting the Falcon family.

On Trial By: Zanna Mackenzie

A fake mystery is the conceit of this intriguing installation of this series.  The fake mystery is the test for our heroine as she hopes to make investigations her full time work.  Well plotted!

84, Charing Cross Road By: Helene Hanff

One of the most delightful and charming books I've read in a long time!

Murder on Euripides By: Scott A. Combs

A classic mystery, wrapped in a goofy, clever space comedy!  I couldn't get enough of this riotous read!
