I found this absolutely fascinating. It's amazing to me what people (individually and collectively) fell for, and sadly still fall for today. Looking at things from an economical, sociological, geographical and emotional stand point, it is understandable how these cons could be pulled off. I wonder what the author and/or any of the con artists would think about fax, email and phone scams now-because sadly these kinds of scams are still happening.
