Glad I didn't need to read the first two in this series before reading this one. I had no trouble figuring out who was who and what their relationships were. MacBride and this book remind me of Ed McBain's 87th Precinct novels. A Scottish Police Precinct filled with a variety of fascinating characters, several cases to solve, plenty of action, dark and wry humor and interesting relationships, make for a fast paced and fun read!
