Glad I didn't need to read the first two in this series before reading this one. I had no trouble figuring out who was who and what their relationships were. MacBride and this book remind me of Ed McBain's 87th Precinct novels. A Scottish Police Precinct filled with a variety of fascinating characters, several cases to solve, plenty of action, dark and wry humor and interesting relationships, make for a fast paced and fun read!

There Are Rivers In The Sky By: Elif Shafak
What a stunningly gorgeous book! A story that is a cross between a Geraldine Brooks novel and The Covenant of Water, Shafak's gorgeous There Are Rivers in the Sky is glorious storytelling. The story of a drop of water (yes, you read that correctly) and it's effect on three people in different time periods. Full of history, mythology, trauma, heart and healing, gorgeously written, this novel is one that will stay with you long after you've finished it.

Unacceptable Risk By: Kaje Harper
What a wonderful surprise this was!! A full length novel, socially relevant plot, interesting characters, great action, story that grabs you. So not what I was expecting, but so glad I read it!

Wild Nights With A Lone Wolf By: Elisabeth Staab
I ordered this from Gay Fiction section, and that's not what this was, and because I wasn't expecting a het story, I had a hard time getting into it. While this was well written and well plotted, it wasn't what I was expecting (through no fault of the author).
the Alpha and his Ace By: Ana J. Phoenix
I really enjoyed this one. A new and interesting take on a love story, that was handled really well!

The Wolves of Paris By: Lance Roddick
While I liked the story a great deal, I felt the sex was a little too violent. And coming from me that's saying something!
Tamed & Mated By: Josephine Sparks
Shapeshifting novels are fun, and usually that's all. This short is fun, and well written, and is intriguing enough to set up this serious!
Bear and Fox By: Hollis Shiloh

A New Legacy By: Karl Anders
One never knows what one will get with a freebie, but I really enjoyed this vampire story! The typos were a little distracting, but the story of Dom and Hills and how they came to be the new masters of the Savannah Coven, was rather well done!
His Request By: Ava March
A short story that manages to pack a lot of character into so few pages. Nate and Jasper's personalities and relationship are well set with few words.
Knot Guilty By: Betty Hechtman
As a cross-stitcher and needlepoint on plastic canvas crafter I really appreciated the "hook" of this series. I did find it a little slow moving and some plot points were repeated and made too obvious for my personal liking, but overall a fun read, interesting mystery and a whole host of quirky characters.

The Debt Collector By: Steven Max Russo
An unlikely heroine, who we really shouldn't like, but can't help being drawn too, highlights this hard boiled mystery. Abigail is a collector looking for a new gig, she gets more than she bargains for when her client ends up dead and she becomes suspect number one. Unlikely friendships, fantastic action sequences, some wry humor, and a well plotted mystery add up to a hell of a good read!

Strangers in Time By: David Baldacci
I've discovered my favorite Baldacci novel and it is Strangers in Time!! Part historical fiction, part mystery, it is storytelling at its best. The fact that it is written simply, adds a sense of urgency to everything that happens within the story, naturally, rather than ratcheting up the writing to ratchet up the action. Remarkable! A moving, harrowing story, this is one not to be missed!

Mr. Mercedes By: Stephen King
A brilliant mystery, edge of your seat action, and masterfully crafted characters make Mr. Mercedes a brilliant read!

Red Star Falling By: Steve Berry with Grant Blackwood
This one was a little slow going, which is odd for a Steve Berry thriller. It did pick up toward the end. As per usual, lots of fascinating history, the exciting point in this one was the cerebral aspect of everything that was done and how the action of the book played out. Not a lot of physical action (until the end), but a great deal of mental action.
