A freebie I ordered on kindle because i was looking for something light and tacky after reading so much heavy lit.  Yes, there was graphic sex in this, but surprisingly...there was also a story!  I might actually have to get the next book in this series, to see where the story goes.  Not what I expected!

Using an economy of words, Naylor beautifully captures these amazing women and their struggles and triumphs.

Nottingham By: Nathan Makaryk

I savored this one. A new take on the Robin Hood mythology, with exquisitely drawn characters, and surprises aplenty. I was taken by how well drawn the female characters are drawn, considering the author is a man, and how rarely that happens. What I really loved about this was that all sides were right and wrong, and the true fun of this read is examining where you fall on the spectrum of issues presented.

 I have no idea what I read, but whatever it was I found it endlessly fascinating!

The Postcard History Series: Lynn Massachusetts By: Diane Shepherd for the Lynn Historical Society

As a lover of history and a 25 year resident of Lynn, this was a fascinating look at the city I now call home. Using postcards to tell the history of the city, is an ingenious way to tell the story of the city's growth.  Especially fun to see buildings back in the day, that are still standing and in use.

X-Men: X-Tinction Agenda By: Chris Claremont

Now this is how you write a compelling saga that doesn't condescend to it's readers! 

 

Guardians of the Galaxy: Quest for the Shield By: Jim Valentino

I haven't read this in over 30 years...I don't remember it being so juvenile. It reads like a condescending adult speaking down to a child. The art is fantastic, the story, while saccharine and predictable, is okay but the narration and dialogue is not great.

Next By: Michael Crichton

What a truly frightening book. Unfortunately, the scenarios presented are all too real and happening now which is what makes it frightening. I don't won't to give anything away, suffice it to say that this book covers genetics, and is eye opening!

 

 

Moonlight Mile By: Dennis Lehane

This was a great read. Lehane's expert plotting and superb characters keep this story moving at a breakneck pace with a lot of twists and turns.  I flew through this one!
